HSPA/HSPA+ Essentials
High Speed Packet Access, or “HSPA,” is driven by the desire to provide end-users with an enhanced experience in UMTS through higher data transfer rates. To leverage Operator investments in HSPA, the 3GPP developed a series of enhancements to create the “HSPA Evolution,” also referred to as “HSPA+.” HSPA+ provides a strategic performance roadmap advantage for HSPA Operators with features such as dual-carrier operation, MIMO, and higher order modulation.
This course provides a high level overview of HSPA and HSPA+ technology including its architectural impacts. Further it explains functional and protocol evolution details of UMTS nodes. A good knowledge of 3GPP technologies like UMTS would be beneficial for anyone attending this course.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, the audience will be able to:
- Understand HSPA/HSPA+ features
- Describe HSDPA/HSUPA channels/technology
- Describe protocols (e.g. RLC, MAC) changes
- Explain Signaling Changes
Who should attend?
This is advance level course and suitable for telecom professionals & students who have good understanding of UMTS.
